Le Pain Quotidien at 55th and Eighth is a Belgian bakery and restaurant in Midtown West, steps from Carnegie Hall and a short walk from Columbus Circle. A neighbourhood within the city — the kind of place where mornings start slowly and lunches are worth lingering over. Organic sourdough baked fresh every day, croissants, tartines, eggs, seasonal salads, soups and a full range of vegan and vegetarian dishes. All made with natural ingredients, and organic wherever possible. Open from 6:30am weekdays and 7:30am weekends — dine in or take away.

His first creations were chocolate mousse, cream puffs, and eclairs. Little did he know…
